Hey there! Thanks for checking out our little corner
of cyberspace. I'm delighted to share a bit of our homeschool journey together.
Thought you might want to know a bit about who's
behind the "wit and wisdom" column so, first, here's the stuff that I guess makes me credible:
I used to teach high school and college English in traditional settings - from that you can figure I have a few degrees and professional credentials. About twelve years ago, though, friends of mine without degrees or teaching experience started to homeschool and got better results than I did in the classroom, so I paddled my boat into their stream.
I wrote all about this and more in the Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling, published by Thomas Nelson - that turned out to be an award-winning best-seller. The book made our lives very exciting, but a lot busier as well.
I also like to start things, including The Home School Resource Center. This is our family business that have been serving the homeschool community the past 15 years.
In addition I teach English at CHESS (Creative Home Educators Support Services) family school and I also oversee the Learning Center homeschool co-op. You can read more about these co-operative efforts in some of my columns.

Students receive constructive feedback throughout the exercises, and get a detailed end-of-round summary report after several questions have been completed.
The report gives teachers and students a quick assessment of key grammar concepts. It serves as a foundation for future improvement using the activities on this web site or other methods of instruction.
The exercises can be used with elementary and secondary level students, ESL classes, and GED preparation programs.
Content on this web site is based on Merit Software's popular grammar programs: Grammar Fitness, Write It Right, and Writing Fitness. Information on our programs may be found at Merit Software's web site.
