The Museum's principal function is to increase public awareness of animals, plants, minerals, and human adaptation in the Brazos Valley today and in ages past. Exhibits, programs, and educational outreach encourage respect and appreciation for the region's natural history. These programs also inform the public about the role of our ancestors, ancient and recent, in the natural world and about our own place in history and the environment.

Brenham Heritage Museum

The purpose of the Brenham Heritage Museum is to preserve for public benefit and education the natural, historical, and
artistic heritage of the region.
Built by the Federal government in 1915 to house the U.S. Post Office , the distinctive Classical Revival style building became the Brenham Heritage Museum in 1991 . Exhibits illustrate the diverse history of Brenham in Washington County. Special exhibits are presented throughout the year . Adjacent to the museum is a display featuring Brenham's Silsby steam fire engine. Purchased in 1879, it was one of the first steam engines in Brenham. Corner of Main & Market
Burton Cotton Gin & Museum

The Burton Farmers Gin represents the turn of the century revolution of cotton ginning from a labor intensive operation to the system gin which was powered by a single engine. It represents a mechanical age before the industrial use of power, and is the oldest surviving example of Robert Munger's concept of an integrated system of processing cotton from the wagon to a completed bale. Built in 1914.
Dr. Pepper Museum

The Dr Pepper Museum and Free Enterprise Institute is a private non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors elected by its membership. The Museum is neither owned nor operated by the Dr Pepper/Seven Up Company. The Museum and Free Enterprise Institute opened to the public in May of 1991 and attracts over 65,000 visitors each year. The Museum is housed in the old 1906 Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company building located at 300 S. 5th Street in downtown Waco. The building is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as the "Home of Dr Pepper."
